Hiking in Cochamó and La Junta

Independent, economical, easy(ish!) . . . hiking around the Cochamó and La Junta Valley is a great choice. And you don’t have to be a superhero to manage most of the hikes and be rewarded by breathtaking vistas. You do the walking; we take care of the rest—cooking and accommodation (and trailhead transfers, if you need them). FIND OUT WHAT WE CAN DO FOR YOU.

The Trail Between Our Two Lodges
Many Campo Aventura guests choose to hike through the rainforest along the Cochamó Trail to stay at our upper La Junta Mountain Lodge. Spend a realxing night at our base Riverside Lodge the night before, and we will get you to the trailhead—-which results in a moderate hike of 14 kms/8.5 miles.

Hiking in La Junta–the Jewel of Cochamó
This is a hiker’s Paradise! Once you get to our Mountain Lodge, choose from a variety of half- and full-day hikes, ranging from easy to moderate to challenging. (See descriptions.) You can easily spend 3 – 5 days based at our Mountain Lodge and enjoy a different self-guided hiking experience with stunning new views every day.

Walks in and around Riverside Lodge and Cochamó Village
A gentle river-bank walk or an energetic hike up to a neighboring farm lets you enjoy the valley’s beauty at sea level. It’s also possible to walk to the village–passing by homesteads, pastures, and fishing boats–to catch a glimpse of daily life in Cochamó.
