Cochamó by Horseback

Re-live the ride that Butch and Sundance once did! Riding with our experienced gauchos and calm, sturdy mountain horses, you’ll travel the valley in the age-old way, as the local huasos have done for decades.

Our popular 4d-3n PIONEER TRAIL on Horseback lets you experience the rainforest on horseback and the La Junta waterfalls and mountains on foot, with a full day free for hiking (Day 3). If you’d like a longer trip, check out our 6d-5n EXTENDED Pioneer Trail on Horseback

The riding pace is slow and suitable even you’ve never been on a horse before. We provide waterproof saddle bags for your clothing—and also have rubber boots and helmets available. (You’ll leave the rest of your luggage safely at Riverside Lodge and ride only with the essentials.)

REMEMBER: For the high season (December-February), it helps reserve horseback trips far in advance so we can make sure to have enough horses. (Ask about our Extended Pioneer Trail that allow for additional days/nights in La Junta).
